Description

First Nordiques logo variation: [link]

Prior to 1979, the Québec Nordiques were a hockey team from the old World Hockey Association (the WHA). Beginning in the 1979-'80 season, the Nordiques were one of the teams to merge with the National Hockey League. Despite some success, including honing the best record in the Eastern Conference in the shortened 1994-'95 season, they never won the Stanley Cup.

In the mid-1990s, Canada's economy was extremely weak, and the Nordiques were floundering financially. Combine with the team playing for a very small market, the team had little viable options. After ownership was sold, the Québec Nordiques relocated to Denver, Colorado to become the Colorado Avalanche, where they won two Stanley Cups, one of them in the 1995-'96 season, their first year after relocating from Québec City.

Now to break down this logo crossover:

The logo that you see here is a "What if" if the Nordiques were a franchise that belonged to Major League Baseball instead of the NHL. Retaining their iconic "n" igloo, the thirteen stitches within the trademark represent the country's ten provinces and three territories.

Some of Québec City's architecture is old but beautiful, so "Québec Norduiques" is in ITC Serif Gothic.
